How to Be a Jerk in Bristol Bay: An Abusers Guide (1992)
by Whit Deschner
Deschner’s somewhat tongue-in-cheek book describes captains, crew, setnetters, and Bristol Bay’s fishing culture. The picture he paints is hilarious and bitting. If you can read through the tears of laughter you will get as accurate a description of the behavior most fishers wish had gone unnoticed. If you have participated in the fishery at any level this book will bring memories flooding back. Like most of Deschner’s books, this one is a must read.
